Kim Family

My family and I have been coming down to El Ayudante every year for the past 6 years. In 2018  my husband, Bob, and three of our eldest children Sam, Nathan and Emily went to Honduras to serve at El Ayudante Missions for the first time. My youngest son, Jacob & I stayed behind because, at the time, my husband and I, felt he was too young to go.

When my husband and our three oldest children came back home, we all had incredible conversations of their time in Honduras and how God showed up in so many life changing ways.  So, then God tugged at mine and Jacob’s heart to go the next year with our whole family to Honduras.  Jacob was so excited and he was ready to go but I struggled and worried about being out of my comforts of home, state and country.  You see, I thought that mission work was more for the youth and people that had skills that could help communities in poverty conditions. I was making excuses in my head that I was too old to go on missions.

But in 2019, God made a way for our whole family to come to Comoyagua, Honduras. When we arrived, I felt the Holy Spirit’s presence and I saw how much greater God’s love can be and He expanded our whole family’s heart even more than I could imagine. My family fell in love with the Honduran community. I felt God’s calling here and knew that God was going to transform something inside each of us by cultivating His love for others.  So now my husband and I, are seeing how God is inspiring future generations like our children to continue to pursue Jesus’s command of His great commission.

So, in January of 2024, my three eldest children, who are now in college, decided to take some students from their college and come serve at El Ayudante in Honduras. The students’ experience was such a blessing that now those students are now encouraging many more to come. So, my three college children returned again with an even larger team of college students this year in January 2025.

"I praise God that He is working in my children’s lives to continue to share their faith and serve in missions by reach out to their friends, classmates and whomever they meet."
