A Typical Week

A Typical Week in Honduras

Teams are usually scheduled with a Saturday to Saturday or Friday to Friday flight schedule. Flights from the US into Toncontin International Airport in Tegucigalpa (TGU) arrive between 11am and 1pm. It is a 2 hour drive from this airport to El Ayudante. Or you may fly into San Pedro Sula airport (SAP) if you so choose – flights are usually a bit cheaper, however the drive is longer – 3 hours. You may choose what you prefer. Teams are met by El Ayudante staff with transportation after they claim luggage and clear customs. Luggage in loaded and the team stops to eat lunch at a fast food restaurant (included in your cost), and then departs for El Ayudante.

The following schedule is based on a Saturday to Saturday flight schedule. Sunday includes attending/serving at a local church, doing a community outreach and preparing for the week’s ministry. Monday through Thursday, team ministry is determined by the team considering their gifts, yet strategically coordinated to build on the ministry of previous teams. Supplies and funding for the week’s ministry is provided by the team. Friday morning projects will be finished up and Friday afternoon we will do some touring. Shopping for local crafts and souvenirs is also included in the day’s events. Saturday morning we will leave immediately after breakfast for the airport. Lunch will be eaten at or near the airport (responsibility of team members). Most flights leave between 11am and 1pm.

El Ayudante’s fee for the week is $450 which is for a seven night stay. This includes everything you need (except ministry funds) from the time you step off the plane, until the time that you leave on for the airport If your team chooses to stay at a hotel the last night before flying out, you are responsible to paying the hotel (The cost averages $30/person). We are happy to arrange the hotel reservations at the hotel of your choice!

This fee covers lodging (sheets and towels provided), three meals a day and snacks prepared at the team house (plus one meal out at a local restaurant), translators, transportation, purified water, and having your ministry schedule arranged for you. We also are happy to provide each team member with an El Ayudante t-shirt!
