Maplewood Baptist Team 2012

Our longest running team yet… Maplewood Baptist from TN!!!! This is the 6th year that they have come down to work with El Ayudante.

Maplewood Baptist brought down a great team of 13 people this year and their focus was evangelism! They went to a bunch of different schools doing a program of songs, activities, balloon animals, and sharing about the love of Jesus. After the program they would play soccer for awhile with kids and have some one on one conversations with smaller groups about Jesus. They also went to 2 orphanages, painted 3 classrooms in a school, and did one on one evangelism in the center square of Comayagua for the afternoon.  It was a really great week!

Here is a bit about the week from Zachary – a member of this team that is now staying with us a few extra weeks to intern with us.

Hello, I’m Zachary Foropoulos and I am interning with Beth and Tristan this summer. I got to come down to Honduras with the Maplewood Baptist Church team. Being able to work with Maplewood is always such a pleasure and an awesome opportunity. God always shows up and shows out wherever He has led us. He is such an amazing provider! We saw somewhere around 32 people led to Christ throughout the week. One of my favorite parts was when we went to a school on La Escalera (The Ladder, a big mountain). We got to share the Gospel with the kids and then play games with them. But Melody Cain, my sister and Maplewood’s pastor’s wife, spoke to a large group of the kids afterwards, going deeper into the Gospel with them. She was able to lead 16 children to Christ! What an awesome thing, seeing Christ using the people around you for His Glory! There were countless other things that He did throughout the week that showed His power and glory!

1 Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.

2 Worship the Lord with gladness;
